Using HummingBird Exceed with ConsoleWorks
This tip assumes you've already have some knowledge of and have installed the Client Kit on your Windows Desktop. If you haven't done so, see the ConsoleWorks Userguide, Page 342 of the 3.5-0u0 docs. Earlier versions will or may vary in page number.
Note: Currently Exceed will need to be used as a "Custom" application. We may add it as a "Known" application in the future. This has been tested with Exceed Versions 10 and 13.
Locate where Exceed is installed on your computer. Hummingbird installs it in version specific directories. The default directory for version 13 in this example is as follows: C:\Program Files\Hummingbird\Connectivity\13.00\HostExplorer The executable we want is hostex32.exe
You can start our helper program, CWTProx.exe, from Windows Explorer or the command line. When installed in the default location it will be found in: C:\Program Files\TDi\ConsoleWorks Client\Bin. If it has never been run, it will open immediately on your screen. If you have run it before, it will start minimized and you will need to locate it in your task bar. Right click it, followed by choosing "Pick Application".
In our example for Exceed version 13, you would browse to and select C:\Program Files\Hummingbird\Connectivity\13.00\HostExplorer\hostex32.exe for the "Application" field.
For the "Application Parameters" field use: %h:%p These 2 variables represent the Host name and Port that our program CWTProx uses to make the connection.
See the following screenshot for the completed dialogs.
Press OK. Now you can go to the >Operations >Consoles page and test your connection via one of your consoles. I would suggest using a full read/write console for this test.
