Saving Layouts

There are a couple of ways to get ConsoleWorks to remember your layout so that you don't have to spend time opening up all the windows you normally want to see the next time you log in.

[edit] Saved Layouts

This option is best when you have certain views that you find yourself using on a regular basis.
In ConsoleWorks, open the windows and arrange them however you desire. Once you have your layout set, click the pulldown at the top of the left hand menu, select Save As… and give your layout a descriptive name.

Once you have saved your layout, you can use the pulldown to select it at any time and it will change the layout to the configuration you set up. Using this method you can create multiple saved layouts to be able to quickly switch between predefined views of your monitored environment. This will also allow you to quickly get to your preferred layout upon logging in without having to open all of your windows manually.

[edit] Remembered Layouts

If instead you would rather log into ConsoleWorks and have it look just the way you left it when you logged out last, the remembered layout is your best choice. Under the Display Setting rollout in the Users: Preferences window select the Remember Layout checkbox. When you login to ConsoleWorks your window layout will look just as you left it, though any filters you had active will not be saved.

Warning! This option should be used with caution. If you have a lot windows and tabs open, ConsoleWorks will attempt to open all of them at the same time when you login, and this may cause some performance issues or prevent the browser from displaying the GUI at all. If that happens you will need to close (or kill) your browser and then login again using the New Session option which will open the ConsoleWorks GUI with a clean slate (no windows open).
