Reminders about Terminal Servers
From TDiWiki
Remember to turn OFF, any timeouts for the serial ports on your terminal servers. We often see new users and veterans alike forget to do this. If the timeouts are greater than 0, ConsoleWorks will have difficulty reconnecting to these serial ports which will result in your seeing CONWRKS-LOSTCOMM events in the Event Occurrences pages.
TDi Support also wants to strongly encourage our users to Disable the "Sniff Session" mode on the Digi CM family of terminal servers. You can find reference to the description of Sniff Session mode here, in the Digi user guide. See the example below of where to find this feature on the Digi interface page.
For ConsoleWorks, if this mode is enabled, there is no assurance that ConsoleWorks will always get a read/write connection. When this happens, it may appear that the Console connections to these managed devices are "hung".
Also, remember you can have multiple users connected to any one Console in ConsoleWorks at a time. If that Console has Exclusive Connect set, then the first user will have a Write connection while subsequent users will get Monitor connections. If Exclusive Connect is not set, then all users will have a Write connection.
