Importing SSL Certs in v4

From TDiWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Importing SSL certificates is a two-part process (assuming the SSL license key is already installed on the server):

  1. Creating the certificate on the ConsoleWorks server
  2. Importing the certificate into each browser that will be accessing ConsoleWorks via SSL

This Wiki entry assumes that the server-side process has been done.

[edit] To import client-side SSL certificate

  • You need local Administrator privileges to do this.
  • If you're running Windows 7, you need to start your browser in Adminstrator mode
  • You need to do this on each computer that is going to make SSL connections in your ConsoleWorks environment.
  1. Close all browsers on the desktop.
  2. Open only ONE browser and connect to ConsoleWorks.
  3. On the ConsoleWorks menu, click SECURITY > SSL Certificate.
  4. Read the notes, and click Continue.
  5. In the Alias box, enter a unique name. You can use the Host Name of the machine or the ConsoleWorks Invocation name. You can change the alias, but you can't reuse names.
  6. Leave the Password Field blank.
  7. Click Import. If a 'Warning Security' message appears, click Yes to continue.
  8. The resulting page should display “Certificates have been imported successfully”
  9. Close the browser to seat the certificate in the computer's certificates store.
  10. Test: Open the browser, connect to ConsoleWorks, and attempt to connect to managed asset. Connection should be SSL-encrypted.
