ConsoleWorks Management of Solaris Zones

From TDiWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

ConsoleWorks can manage your Solaris Zones by using the SSH with Password Console Type.

[edit] Requirements

In order to manage your Solaris zones you'll need to be running ConsoleWorks 4.3-0u2 or newer, and have the CONWRKS-SSH-CLIENT license. If you want to use the script attached to this Wiki article to import the zone console definitions to your ConsoleWorks server you'll need to run the script on a unix machine that has ssh, expect, and either the ConsoleWorks server kit or ConsoleWorks client kit installed.

[edit] Overview

ConsoleWorks connects to the consoles of your zones by using ssh to initiate remote commands on the global zone. SSH must be configured on the global zone to allow password authentication and root login. You can either manually setup Consoles for the zones as SSH with Password Consoles that execute the command "zlogin -C [zone_name]" or you can use the cw_add_zone_consoles.sh link below to download the script which automatically creates the SSH with Password Consoles to connect to your zones' consoles.

Once your zone Consoles are defined be sure and associate your Sun Solaris IEM with the Consoles so important operating system error and informational messages will be detected.
