Configuring Linux to Use the Serial Port for its Console

'Configuring Linux to Use the Serial Port for its Console'
ConsoleWorks is usually configured such that monitoring of Linux systems is through the Console device. In many configurations of Linux, it is assumed that there will be a graphical device connected to the console device which makes its use by ConsoleWorks impossible.
The console device can be configured to use a serial port (real or emulated by VMware or Xen).
There is an outstanding web document at:
http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-HOWTO/Remote-Serial-Console-HOWTO.html
This document explains how to configure both the console device in Linux and the serial port in the boot loader.
